The aim of the tender study Biorefinery pathways and outlook for deployment is to provide an outlook for integrated biorefineries. The study will raise awareness for the wide range of bio-based products and biorefinery pathways that can produce them. It aims to enable stakeholders such as the scientific community, industry (primary producers and manufacturers), investors, policy-makers, and NGOs to take the present-day decisions necessary to shape the future sustainable bioeconomy.
In order to meet these objectives, the study analyses drivers and barriers for bio-based products, outlines the benefits of bio-based products, and assesses their market potential. Further, the study identifies R&I needs for the commercialisation of biorefinery concepts while taking into account ecological sustainability and benefits to society.
Special emphasis is placed on an extensive engagement with key experts on biorefinery concepts and stakeholders in order to ensure a co-creation of results and verification of study results.
