Hannover Messe 2022 - Bioeconomy to touch and see

PtJ and FNR jointly present projects on the bio-based economy

The Hannover Messe is the leading knowledge and networking platform for the manufacturing industry, the energy sector and logistics. Digitalisation and sustainability in industry are important focal points of this year's fair.

In Hall 2 at the joint stand A33, the Agency for Renewable Ressources (Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e. V. (FNR) and the Projektträger Jülich (PtJ) will present research results from current bioeconomy projects funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). A large number of physical and virtual exhibits illustrate the many facets of the bioeconomy to visitors of the fair. They include biorefineries, agricultural systems of the future, demand-driven power generation from biogas, flexible approaches to wood construction and customised ingredients for a competitive bioeconomy.

One example of the cascading use of wood building products is a model of a convertible hybrid wood building - a building type with a high proportion of hardwood that can be used or repurposed as a car park, residential or office building. Visitors to the bioeconomy stand can see how far research and industry have come in the development of customised products from renewable raw materials by taking a look at the exhibit of bio-based foams. The material is suitable for thermal insulation in both construction and transport. Also exciting are the advances in the development of bio-based metalworking oils for cryogenic minimum quantity lubrication and the use of a plasma treatment of hemp fibres to produce biogenic lightweight materials for structural components in automotive engineering.

The Hannover Messe opens its halls from 30 May to 2 June for the numerous visitors from all over the world. The bioeconomy joint stand (A33) of FNR and PTJ can be found in Hall 2.
