BioBIGG & BalticBiomass4Value Baltic Bioeconomy Days, 10-12 March 2020 Rostock, Germany

We are pleased to announce the Conference “Baltic Bioeconomy Days”, which is part of the Interreg South Baltic and Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programmes and will take place on 10 – 12 March 2020 at the University of Rostock (Room: Hörsaal HSL).

At the conference, the Interreg projects BioBIGG and BalticBiomass4Value will look into the bioeconomy potential in the Baltic Sea region and provide the opportunity to build and strengthen networks. Within the BioBIGG project FNR coordinates the efforts to build a cross-border sustainable bioeconomy network in the South Baltic Area. Regarding BalticBiomass4Value, FNR takes over the role as communication manager and coordinates the project’s activities to improve knowledge and technology transfer in the Baltic Sea Region.

On the opening day, key results of the BioBIGG project will be presented. Within the scope of the project, current and future challenges and opportunities for the bioeconomy in the South Baltic region have been identified. Furthermore, material flows for residues from the cereal production, wood production, sugar production and food value chains were mapped. Additionally, participants will gain an insight into pre-feasibility studies for innovative value chains and current efforts regarding the establishment of the South Baltic Bioeconomy Network.

The second and third conference days look at the ongoing and planned activities of the BalticBiomass4Value project. These focus on supporting private and public sector organisations in the Baltic Sea region in their efforts to improve added value production chains in the area of energetic use of biomass.

Both projects address the agriculture and forestry and wood processing sectors.

A workshop will bring together experts from all countries bordering the Baltic Sea to explore and discuss strategies and opportunities for a sustainable use of biomass with a high level of public acceptance.

By presenting their experiences, experts provide a basis for engaged discussions.

Led by the Agency for Renewable Resources (FNR) and Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), measures for the implementation of bio-based value chains are developed.

External participants are highly welcome. Participation is free of charge.
