The FNR coordinated European project BioCannDo ended after three years in September 2019. The project consortium aimed to provide consumers with information on Bioeconomy and bio-based products. It focused on clear messages, comprehensibility and examples from everyday life.
BioCannDo communication activities focused on relevant consumer products. Information materials were developed in close consultation with experts and consumers. Ten selected recommendations and experiences for the work of future communication projects are summarised in the booklet „The BioCannDo experience: Let’s talk about bio-based products“
The project team developed the www.AllThings.Bio portal. The project communication portal provides original and external communication and educational materials about the Bioeconomy in Europe and bio-based products to the public at large. It is the point of contact between the project and consumers looking for information and resources about bio-based products.
In the frame of the project, a set of eight short and engaging videos featuring bio-based t-shirts, mugs, cleaners, lipsticks, soaps, tableware, straws and toys have been published on AllThings.Bio as well as on YouTube. The videos answer important consumer questions about their use and their properties.
BioCannDo transferred scientific and technical language regarding bio-based products into a straightforward every day approach, so that communication concerning key aspects can be understood outside of scientific circles. The project team developed key communication messages about the European Bioeconomy with a focus on selected bio-based products: household cleaning products, insulation materials and food packaging materials. These key messages and additional background information are freely available on the AllThings.Bio website.
This project has received funding from the Bio Based Industries Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 720732.
