Allthings.bioPro podcast– Episode 3: Don’t say green fashion, say bio-circular fashion

With the recently launched podcast series, Allthings.bioPRO dives into the concept of the bioeconomy. Bioeconomy experts and representatives of the Allthings.bioPRO project inform listeners about bio-based products and the various aspects of the bioeconomy.

The third episode presents the fashion and textile industries, which belong to the most polluting industries. Choosing bio-based and circular clothing can be part of the solution. One things is for sure, our individual taste in clothing is as varied as our taste in food – no two days are ever quite the same.

It is that sense of personal style and identity that the fashion industry both creates and responds to. Additionally, the bioeconomy presents opportunities for sustainability and circularity to become fashionable, too.

It can be challenging for consumers to juggle so much information in a fast developing and changing fashion sector: different materials, fabrics and fibres, considering the full supply chain, besides the growing importance of recycling and buying second-hand, remaining fashionable and in-style at the same time in a more sustainable way. Our guests try to unravel such topics by helping us to become buyers that are more conscious. This episode hosts Lotta Waesterberg Tomasson from V&A, Katya Komlach, tour guide of the Fashion for Good museum, Anna Pellizzari who works at Materially, a sustainable materials consultancy, and Annarita Colasante, academic and researcher in behavioural economics at Università La Sapienza.

The podcast can be found on the project’s website: https://www.allthings.bio/podcast/allthings-bio-whats-the-bioeconomy/ is hosted on the ICONS' page on anchor.fm and is being distributed on the main podcast platforms, i.e. Spotify, Google podcast, apple podcast etc., as well as on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
