Successful 31st European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE 2023) in Bologna, Italy

With the last physical conference held in Lisbon in 2019, EUBCE 2023, held from 5 to 9 June 2023, marked the return to real-world interaction after three years online. More than 1500 delegates from 79 countries around the globe discussed recent progress in using biomass in a circular and sustainable economy. One overarching statement was that sustainable bioenergy is required to triple in the next years in order to achieve NetZero (emissions)”.

For the participants from FNR, who moderated also oral and virtual sessions, the conference was an excellent opportunity to listen to the latest results of European and international biomass/bioeconomy research, and also to network and collaborate in an European and international framework. Examples are the EU SET4BIO project, IEA Bioenergy and Advanced Motor Fuels (AMF) as well as the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP).
