Validation workshops of the BIOEAST Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (BIOEAST SRIA)

The BIOEAST Vision for 2030 presents the commonly agreed set of objectives and tasks for a more effective transition to sustainable and circular bioeconomies in the BIOEAST countries. The BIOEAST Vision for 2030 paves the way for the development of a comprehensive Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). The SRIA will provide relevant and high-quality strategic research policy advice in the evolving landscape of the broader bioeconomy and related sectors in the key BIOEAST thematic areas:

  • Agroecology and Sustainable Yields;
  • Food Systems;
  • Bioenergy and New Value-added Materials;
  • Advanced Biochemical and Biomaterials;
  • Forestry Value Chains;
  • Freshwater-based Bioeconomy;
  • Bioeconomy Education.

In line with the bottom-up approach for the SRIA development, the feedback of national stakeholders will be included by validating the second draft of the SRIA in sub-regional workshops, organised in Warsaw (Poland), Tartu (Estonia) and Ljubljana (Slovenia). The objective of the workshops is to discuss special challenges that the macro-regions might face in view of the BIOEAST SRIA and to contribute to its further development. The discussions focus on goals and challenges, main research topics, expected outcomes and impact for better addressing and innovation needs for the BIOEAST macro-region.

Within the BIOEASTsUP project, FNR is supporting the preparation of national platforms for the bioeconomy strategy development as well as the preparation of a joint BIOEAST SRIA, while also developing an exploitation strategy for the project results.

Duration of the project: 10/2019 – 03/2023

BIOEASTsUP has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 862699.
