European Wood Policy Platform seeks to increase European cooperation to increase the use of wood in products and construction

The European Wood Policy Platform (woodPoP) has been initiated by Finland and Austria. The platform is intended to promote wood-based policy dialogue at different levels. WoodPoP currently gathers stakeholders from more 18 countries from EU and worldwide.

Since spring 2023, activities of WoodPoP accelerated with the kick-off of several Thematic Working Groups, which gathered stakeholders from ministries, the private sector, civil society and research to discuss and design solutions to foster the sustainable production and consumption of wood products.

Thematic Working Groups were founded on the topics ‘Buildings’, ‘Governance’, ‘Research and Innovation’, ‘Education and Vocational Training’ and ‘Communication & Innovation’. There are chaired by representatives from two different countries. FNR and the Finnish Ministry of the Environment are co-chairing the TWG Buildings.
