IEA-AMF Newsletter 4-2023

The latest issue of the newsletter of the International Energy Agency's (IEA) Advanced Motor Fuel Technology Collaboration Programme (AMF TCP) has recently been published. With contributions from North America, Europe and Asia, this issue outlines global developments in advanced and sustainable transport fuels.

The newsletter reports on important developments in the aviation sector. For example, Preem, the Swedish oil refining and renewable fuels company, is aiming to become a leading European player in sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) by investing around €500 million to convert its refinery in Lysekil. Also discussed are the finalisation of transport fuel provisions in the EU's Fit for 55 package and the US Department of Energy's (DOE) announcement of $7 billion in funding to launch seven regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs.

Finally, the issue includes a summary of the 66th AMF ExCo meeting in Leipzig, a comprehensive list of upcoming advanced fuels events and relevant publications. These include the publication of the final report of Task 63 on sustainable aviation fuels and the final report of Task 60 on progress in advanced marine fuels.
